Watch me

I had an idea to compile photos of several different CCTV cameras around Abu Dhabi's downtown. I had gone out and taken so many photos of different cameras on the streets, in stores, and in residential buildings. In the end it did not capture the feeling I was trying to convey—the feeling of being watched in places where it sometimes makes no sense to be watched. So instead of compiling those photos into a collection, I decided to create an edit of several streetlamp CCTV cameras into a little jungle of surveillance, inspired by Jakub Geltner's "Nest" series. Above is the result. Below are some close-ups for details. Somehow the close-ups convey even more dread, with the narrower views, seeing cameras hidden behind things, and seeing cameras just slightly out of frame.
